St Mary's Church is one of the oldest and most
beautiful buildings in Bedford. Fifty generations of Bedford townsfolk
have been baptised, married, or buried here.
Today, it is the headquarters of Albion Archaeology, one of the country's
leading Archaeology units.
The stones may not be able to speak themselves, but, in this book, some
of their stories can be revealed to give us a fascinating window into
the past.
Using many photographs and drawings, the book covers themes such as:
the history of the church and town, the building, some of the people
associated with it and St Mary's current use as an Archaeology Centre.
Written in an easy-to-read style, this book is for anyone who is curious
about the history of Bedford and its churches.
